Y.M.C.A. WORK FOR SOLDIERS
Increasing use is being made by soldiers on leave of the facilities provided by the Y.M.C.A. institution in Tay street. Last Saturday 35 soldiers, who arrived in the city by the leave train from the north, had breakfast there and on Monday night 16 men who were on their way back to camp after leave slept there. On Sunday night tea was provided for men on leave by the women of the Esk street Baptist Church. During the week entertainments were provided for the men in local camps. On Thursday night the returned soldiers’ concert party gave a concert at the base training depot and last night Mr G. Griffiths gave a talk to the men of the 20th Independent Company. A new electric hot water system has been installed at the Tay street institution. This will ensure a plentiful supply of hot water for showers and shaving. Many soldiers make use of the “wash and brush-up” facilities provided by the institution.
