DEMONSTRATION OF ROSE PRUNING

The annual rose pruning demonstration conducted by the reserves department of the City Council at Queen’s Park on Saturday afternoon attracted an attendance of more than 100 gardening enthusiasts, including visitors from Queenstown and Bluff. The demonstration was given by the superintendent (Mr W. Stapleton) and three ( other members of the reserves staff, who explained the pricinples of pruning and demonstrated how the work should be done. They faced a barrage of questions which they answered, illustrating the points on rose bushes.
