Sporting GRAND NATIONAL HURDLES
GOOD CONDITIONS FOR RACING

SCRATCHINGS IN HURDLES (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 14.
Defections in the Grand National Hurdles will be Master Lackham and Turaki, who have been sent home, Rockery and Merry Simon, who will .contest the Spreydon / Hurdles, and possibly Heidelberg, who is also an acceptor for the Spreydon Hurdles. Erndale was exercised on the road this morning. He worked late yesterday and was all right when pulled up, though there is still a doubt about him running. Rara Avis wrenched himself and will be unable to run in the August Handicap, while Boloyna has a leg that has given trouble and he may not contest the Islington Handicap. No definite decisions have been made about which race Minority and Good Scout will contest.
BEAU VITE WILL NOT RACE AGAIN
(Rec. 6.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 14. The trainer Frank McGrath announced that Beau Vite probably will not race again. Veterinary opinion says further training may result in Beau Vite being crippled for all time. It is likely he will be offered for sale as a sire.
Beau Vite' has risked a complete breakdown during his last two years’ training. He has always had an enlarged off fore fetlock joint and has done wonderfully well to stand up to training as long as he did. Beau Vite has won £26,680 in prize money.
