FERTILIZER ALLOWANCE

The Southland Council of Primary Production discussed yesterday cases of hardship in fertilizer allowances caused by the fact that some farmers had no topdressing allowance with which to supplement reduced crop allowances. The National Council had requested district councils to submit recommendations whether they would support a .reduction in topdressing allow* ances to meet cases of hardship. It was decided that the council could not recommend a general reduction in the allowance for topdressing, but suggested that means be found for a more equitable distribution of supplies.
