ACREAGES OF LINEN FLAX

In the Southern and Western Districts of Southland there has been a good response from farmers to the appeals to grow linen flax. Mr A. Stuart, instructor in agriculture. reported to the Southland Council ot Primary Production yesterday that the required acreage at Winton had been secured. The shortage at Otautau was 75 acres and at Woodlands 25 acres. Mr J. W. Woodcock, fields superintendent of Otago and Southland, said the position at Gore was less satisfactory, 600 acres out of 1000 acres required having been obtained. At Tapanui 800 acres of 1500 required had been secured.
