TODAY’S PATRIOTIC FIXTURES
The Otago Mounted Rifles team, which is well up in the Otego competitions and which will take part in the patriotic Rugby fixture with Army. Invercargill, this afternoon, will arrive in the city by the mid-day train today, accompanied by a military brass band. Rugby football, basketball and table tennis teams from the Dunedin squadron of the A.T.C. will meet teams from the Invercargill squadron in a series of sports contests. The football match will be played at Rugby Park at 1.45 p.m., as a curtain-raiser to the Army match, the basketball matches will be played at the Y.M.C.A. at 7.30 p.m. and the table tennis at the Orange Hall at 7 p.m. 1 The brass band of the Otago Mounted Rifles will march from the Post Office to Rugby Park this afternoon, playing en route, and will play selections at the park. The visiting band will join with the Southland Battalion Band in playing the National Anthem. The Base Training Depot Pipe Band will play the teams on to the field.
