FARMER FOUND DEAD
(PA.) WHANGAREI, August 13. A week ago Edward Hawken, a wellknown farmer of Maungatapere, disappeared. An intense search was made every day by settlers and Home Guardsmen till yesterday. when the body was found alongside a stone wall on Ms farm. There was a wound in the throat and a butcher’s knife alongside. Both feet were tied to a tree. Mr Hawken had been in ill-health for some time.
