ARMY APPOINTMENTS
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 13. The following appointments and promotions of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces were gazetted tonightLieuten-ant-Colonel J. G. Jeffrey, M.C., V.D., A.D.C.. Is appointed a fortress commander in the South Island in addition to his appointment as area commander and is granted the temporary rank of colonel; Major R. Slnel, Reserve of Officers, New Zealand Artillery, is promoted to temporary lieutenant-colonel and is appointed director of mechanical transport, Army Headquarters in place of Major (Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel) V. J. Innes, who is attached to the branch of Quartermaster-General, Army Headquarters; Captain C. G. Hay is appointed deputy assistant Adjutant-General, Northern Military District, and is granted temporary rank of major while so employed; Major E. F. Laws, 2nd N.Z.E.F., Is appointed deputy assistant ' quartermaster-general, Central Military District; Major F. R. Mcßride, 2nd N.Z.E.F., Is appointed deputy assistant ad-jutant-general. Central Military District.
