WOMEN’S REST ROOM.— “I hope that women will make full use of the women’s rest room which the council has provided at considerable cost,” said the Mayor, Mr A. Wachner, yesterday. “The room is well provided with amenities and there is an attendant in charge. Business girls can get a cup of tea there. The room was established for the benefit of women and children, and I hope they will make good use of it. The room is handy to the centre of the city, in Forth street just off Clyde street.” FIRE IN FLAX FACTORY. -Yesterday afternoon a small fire broke out in the scutching part of the Winton linen flax factory. Measures for the suppression of the fire were immediately taken and it was brought under control before much damage had been done.
