PATRIOTIC ACTIVITIES APPRECIATED

(P.A.) WELLINGTON. August 11. The service it has been possible to give the New Zealand Forces from the patriotic funds subscribed by the people of the Dominion is eulogized by Lieutenant-Gen-eral Sir Bernard Freyberg in a cable to the National Patriotic Fund Board received from him today. The text of the message is: "I would like the people of New Zealand to know how much the National Patriotic Fund is appreciated at a time like this. The Y.M.C.A., Church Army and Red Cross are doing great work distributing Patriotic Fund cigarettes, tobacco, writing materials and chocolate parcels to men in the forward areas and to the wounded in hospitals. May I, on behalf of the N.Z.E.F. overseas, once again thank the people of New Zealand for their gift parcels and generosity in subscribing to the patriotic funds.”
