HOME GUARDSMAN INJURED
(P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, August 10. During rifle practice yesterday morning, a member of the New Plymouth battalion of the Home Guard, Corporal Clifford Deare, was injured as a result of a premature explosion when loading a rifle. A piece was torn from his right ear and the point of his nose, and his face was pitted fairly badly, mostly on the right side. The knuckles of his right hand were also injured.
