DRIED MEAT PROVES POPULAR

(Rec. 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, August 8. Experiments carried out by the Ministry of Food in collaboration with 100 restaurants, hotels and canteens prove that dehydrated, or dried, meat is popular with the general public. All reports state that the new dish “went down well.” Eight customers at one restaurant were told the difference and asked whether they preferred dishes made with normal or dried mutton. They even preferred the latter. At every restaurant customers said they would not have known the difference between the two kinds of meat unless they were told.

As a result of the experiment catering establishments are using more dried meat.
