WYNDHAM
SCOTTISH_SOCIETY “The affairs of the society are in a flourishing and healthy state,” stated the annual report of the Wyndham Scottish Society, presented at the annual meeting in the Masonic hall at Wyndham. The chief (Mr W. Frame, jun.) presided over a large attendance. The membership showed a decrease on the figure for the previous year. During the year several interesting addresses were supplied, the speakers being the Rev. Dr I. W. Fraser, Mr Ritchie, the Rev. Hugh Graham, Messrs McFarlane, J. Fisher, W. Stewart, F. Dunbar and J. D. Gilmore. Enjoyable evenings during the year were the young people’s night and the social evening. The children’s night was again successfully staged by the women’s committee and was an overwhelming success, stated the report. The committee deserved every credit for its endeavours on this occasion in the interest in the children and society as a whole.
The annual Scottish concert to be held in April was abandoned. The thanks of the society were due to the honorary accompanists, Mesdames Macpherson and Halliday and Mr E. S. McFarlane, for their generous services during the year and the caretaker for assistance during the year. The election of officers resulted:— Chief, Clansman D. Christie; Chieftains, Clansmen W.
