FUNDS FOR BRITISH SEAMEN

ALLOCATION OF £20,000 FOR WAR WORK (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 26. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Sheep Owners’ Acknowledgment of Debt to British Seamen Fund Committee was held today. The managing trustee, Mr T. R, Lees, said there

had been an accretion of £108,243 and it had been decided to allocate £20,000 of the, present funds to work in connection with the present war. It might be possible to double the allocation after all claims from the previous war had been met. Requests had been sent out to all contributors and 230 approvals had been received, showing that probably the consent • would be unanimous.

Later on it would be necessary to contribute especially to a fund for survivors of the present war. The approval of the National Patriotic Funds Board would be necessary. Mr Edward Newman was re-elected chairman.
