GOODS LICENCES RENEWED

SITTING OF LICENSING AUTHORITY Applications for the renewal of goods service licences were heard in Invercargill yesterday by the No. 4 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr S. V. Raines). The following were granted renewals: J. A. Brown (Waianiwa), W. R. Clent (Invercargill), E. W. Frew (Invercargill), W. B. Ireland (Otautau), W. King (Waianiwa), Lange Brothers Ltd. (Invercargill), F. C. E. Maxted (Invercargill), C. McDermott (Invercargill), L. P. McNeill (Wrights Bush), New Zealand Express Co., Ltd. (Invercargill), S. A. Parker (Waimatuku), J. W. Paton (Invercargill) Ltd., W. T. Smith (Inyercargill), Southland Carrying Co., Ltd. (Invercargill), R. A. Stewart (Isla Bank), Thomson’s Ltd. (Invercargill), E. H. B. Winder (Invercargill). Mr Raines reserved his decision on the application for renewal by A. E. Kelland (Colac Bay). Decision was also reserved on the application of D. T. Wilson (Invercargill). Many of these licence holders have previously had the right to carry household removals and racehorses and were exempt from the 30-mile railway restriction. However, this exemption has been revoked for the duration of the war.
