Mainly Fair And Mild (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, September 25, Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington: Moderate winds from a westerly

quarter, freshening at times about

Foveaux Strait. Weather mainly fair to cloudy and mild but a few scattered showers likely on the coast.

Seas moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast: — Weather continuing fine in the east and north; rather cloudy from Taranaki southwards with some isolated drizzle or light rain. Mild temperatures with patches of coastal fog forming during the night, more especially on the east coast of the

South Island. General Situation.—A weak disturbance is located in the north Tasman, but otherwise pressure is high from New South Wales to beyond the North Island. Winds. —Light to moderate northerly to westerly, freshening at times about and south of Cook Strait, and later tending north-easterly in the north.

Seas (New Zealand waters). —Slight or moderate in-the eastern Tasman, light to moderate north-easterly winds in the northern portion and moderate to fresh north-westerlies in the southern portion. Seas moderate.

The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine and cold. There was a fairly strong wind from the south-west during the day. This morning at 1 o’clock the weather was cool .and calm, with light rain falling. The barometer readings for the last three mornings have'been as follows: —
