AMENDMENTS TO LICENCES

TAXI AND PASSENGER SERVICES SITTING OF TRANSPORT AUTHORITY The sitting of the No. 4 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr S. V. Raines) was continued in Invercargill yesterday. Mr K. Davies represented the Transport Department and Mr F.- G. Craig the Railways Department Transfers of a passenger and a goods service licence from J. B. Monk to the Minister of Railways and of a goods service licence from F. Bowden and Co. Ltd. and Macgregor and Trim Ltd. to Bowden’s Mart Ltd., were granted. The passenger licence held by G. R. R. Ker (Hedgehope) and the rental car licence held by J. Pagan (Invercargill), Were revoked. An application for the transfer of a goods service licence from D. F. Scott and Co. Ltd. to H. G. Breayley was granted. An. application for taxi-cab licences to be transferred from J. Pagan, D. E. Hopkins, E. B. Bdberg, D. F. Scott, D. Murrell, and V. R. Y. Challis to Blue Star Taxis (Invercargill) Ltd., was heard, and decision was reserved. A taxi-cab licence was transferred from J. Pagan to J. N. Kissell. A. J. N. Brown (Otautau), was granted a taxi-cab licence and that held by E. D. Russell (Otautau), was suspended while the holder was on active service. E. Bradshaw, Watts, and Grieve Ltd. and Mutual Rental Cars Ltd.', applied to have their rental car licences reviewed. Decision was reserved. E. Bradshaw applied for an amendment to his rental car licence to authorize the carriage of passengers in a caravan. Decision was reserved. The application of the Southland Frozen Meat Company Ltd. (Mataura), for a goods service licence was heard, and decision was reserved. G. Pinkney (Tisbury), was granted a goods service licence. Application was made by the Minister of Railways for authority to make adjustments to the fare schedule between Invercargill and Garston. Decision was reserved.

TIMETABLES ALTERED An application to amend his continuous passenger service licence was made by D. W. H. Tuffery and was granted. The deletion from the present time-table of the following trips was authorized: —Friday, from Post Office, Invercargill, 9.30, 10, 10.30, 11 a.m., from Racecourse road, 9.45, 10.15, 110.45 a.m. Saturday, from Post Office, 5.33, 6 p.m. From Racecourse road, 5.15, 5.45 p.m. Several amendments to the licence held by H. and H. Motors Ltd. were authorized. On the Matuku-Mossburn-Invercargill run, the time-table and route will be altered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the bus deviating at Winton to cross the Oreti RiVer and proceeding to Oreti, then to Invercargill by the route now taken by the OhaiInvercargill service on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The time-table is: Winton 9.31 a.m., Oreti 9.45 a.m., Northope 10.10 a.m., Wallacetown 10.25 a.m., Invercargill 10.45 a.m. On the Waikawa-Invercargill route, the time-table was amended as follows:—Outward: The 2.30 p.m. trip on Fridays was deleted and a trip, Invercargill to Tokanui only, at 4 p.m. was substituted. Inward: the 5.15 p.m. Friday trip from Waikawa was deleted and a trip from Tokanui only at 6 p.m. was substituted.

The Ohai-Invercargill run was amended by the deletion of the section via Oreti and Northope which is served on Wednesdays and Saturdays only and the substitution of a daily service on the existing time-table via Drummond and Springbank. N. L. McKnight (Hollyford) applied for authority to extend his goods service into the Wallace and Southland counties. Decision was reserved. R. D. McGrath (Wreys Bush), applied to have his goods service licence revoked and one vehicular authority transferred to S. and J. Mcßae and one to J. E. James. Decision was reserved.
