BALANCE-SHEET SHOWS SOUND POSITION

ANNUAL MEETING OF CLIFTON CLUB

The balance-sheet of the Clifton Tennis Club, presented at the annual meeting, showed that the club is in a sound financial position. Mr R. Ross, the president, presided over a fair attendance of members. Last season the club entered one team in the B grade and one in the C grade competition • conducted by the Southland Lawn Tennis Association and, although no success was gained by either team, some enjoyable games were played, stated the annual report. One member of the club, Mr P. Ross, was on active service and best wishes were expressed for a safe and speedy return.

The following office-bearers were elected:—Patron, Mr W. M. C. Denham, MJP.; president, Mr R.. Ross; active vice-president, Mr J. McKenzie; vicepresidents, Messrs W. Cook, H. Eastlake, A. E. Gibb, W. Johnstone, A. Mackay, H. Nichol, W. Payne, J. Peace, J. Ross, H. Smith, H. Wixon and W. F. Young; secretary and treasurer, Miss M. Mackay; auditors, Messrs L. G. Kelly and J. McKenzie; club captain, Mr G. McKenzie; deputy-captain, Mr J. Gibb; delegate to Southland Lawn Tennis Association, Mr L. G. Kelly. Opening day was fixed for October 5.

MOANA CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Moana Tennis Club. The following officers were elected:— Patron, the Mayor; president, Mr L. Smith; vice-presidents, Messrs J. P. Butler, J. Baird, G. Frobarth, F. Holloway, R. Dunwoodie and D. K. Torrance; honorary secretary and treasurer, Miss A. I. Brown; deputy-captain, Miss D. Southern; committee, Misses I. Dempster, D. Southern and E. Chapman, Messrs B. Dunjie, S. Hunt and W. J. Sands; auditor, Mr R. Dunwoodie. The balance-sheet showed the club to be in a sound financial position. ' Several new members were elected. The opening day was fixed for October 5.
