GUN DOG TRIALS AT WEST PLAINS
WORK OF FAIRLY HIGH STANDARD The Southland Gun Dog Club held a series of trials at West Plains on Saturday afternoon in adverse weather. There was a fair attendance of the public. The judge of the puppy and novice classes was Mr J. R. O’Brien. Mr J. B. Pascoe judged the open class. The work of the dogs was of a fairly high standard. Results were as follows: — Puppy class (land trial on feather):— J. G. Pasco’s c.c.r. Sabu 95pts 1, T. Chamberlain’s Labrador Black Banner 92pts 2, S. Lindsay’s Labrador Madge 89pts 3, M. Pasco’s Labrador Rajah 87 pts 4, W. Cavanagh’s Labrador Glen Isla 86pts 5. Novice class (land, retrieve on fur): W Pay’s Labrador Ythan Laddie 96pts 1 W F. Clouston’s Labrador Ythan Bob 95pts 2, J. Young’s Labrador Shine 90 pts 3, J. G. Pasco’s c.c.r. Sabu 89pts 4, H. Broad’s s.s. Bagdad 87pts 5. Open class (non-sight retrieve, on f ur ) ; _W. E. Hazlett’s Labrador King 89pts 1, W. E. Hazlett’s Labrador Burwood 86pts 2, P. Hennessey’s s.s. Sir Three Star 84pts 3, S. Lindsay’s Labrador Lock 78pts 4.
