DRAUGHTS

N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP

The draughts committee in Christchurch has decided to carry on with the New Zealand draughts championship tournament in that city at Christmas. The general opinion is that the tournament should be held annually, even if it means reduced prize-money. Under war conditions the committee will have to depend almost solely on contributions from supporters of the game, and it is hoped the response will be generous. Subscriptions from Southland players may be handed or posted to Mr F. Hutchins, 54 Biggar street, Invercargill. The tournament secretary, Mr O’Malley, is expecting a big team from Southland for this centennial gathering.
