PIGEON RACING

PROGRAMME CONTINUED

The Invercargill Homing Pigeon Society continued its programme with two races recently. The first was from Mosgiel and the stationmaster liberated 82 hen birds at 8.30 a.m. in fine weather. The first bird timed in in 1 hour 59 minutes. Following are the results:—E. Gibb (1536.4yds a minute) 1, H. Strang (1533.3yd5) 2, D. Strang (1526.5yd5) 3. Other members timed in as follows: 1516.7, R. Ross; 1515.9, R. Calvert; 1453.6, R. Wilson; 1412, R. E. Huffadine; 1193.1, Miss Pasco. The stationmaster at Waikouaiti liberated 50 cock birds in light rain. The first bird timed in in 4 hours 5 minutes. Results: R. Ross (914.9yds a minute) 1 H. Strang (893.9yd5) 2, D. Strang (881.1yds) 3, R. Wilson (876yds) 4.
