FINES TOTALLING £60 IMPOSED
BREACHES OF OIL FUEL REGULATION (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 13. Fines totalling £6O were imposed by the Magistrate, Mr F. H. Levien, in the Magistrate’s Court on Frank Stanley Thompson, proprietor of a service station in Khyber Pass for two breaches of the oil fu?l restrictions. Defendant pleaded guilty. The police stated that between May and August there were shortages of 1100 gallons compared with the coupons and licences in Thompson’s possession. He had reported to detectives that the petrol had been stolen, but after inquiries had been made, he said it had 1 robably been sold. Defending counsel said Thompson had been muddled in his figures and he was now employing an accountant. The Magistrate said there was no possible excuse and Thompson appeared I to have been “making a welter of it.” j He fined him £35 on one charge and £25 on.the other. 1
