PROPERTIES SOLD WITHOUT LICENCE
BUSINESS MAN FINED AT AUCKLAND (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 13. Three charges of selling properties when not holding a land agent’s licence were admitted by Edwin Sayes in the Magistrate’s Court. Senior-Sergeant Joyce said that on March 31 the defendant started a business known as Reliance Business Sales, for which he did not require a licence. Later he sold two houses and another property which required him to have a land agent’s licence. Counsel for the defendant said it was only dilatoriness on the defendant’s part that he did not apply for a licence when the matter was brought under his notice. He had applied and had immediately been granted one. The Magistrate said the important point was that the defendant had accepted deposits without being covered by a bond, which a licence holder would have provided. On one charge he would be fined £2O. The two other charges were withdrawn.
