STEWART ISLAND

POOR CATCHES OF FISH STRONG TIDES RUNNING The weather at Stewart Island this month has been very warm and sunny and there is every indication of a hot, dry summer. Conditions at sea have not been good for the fishermen and so far only two or three boats have gone out and have come home with poor catches. Exceptionally big and strong tides have been running, old residents reporting that they are the largest tides they have seen.
