At the weekly shoot of the Wyndham Rifle Club the A grade button .was won by G. Goodhart with a possible. Miss Baird won the B grade button. Scores were: G. Goodhart 80.5-3-80.5, E. Burgess 77.2-4-79.4, J. Henderson 74.3-3-77.3, A. Muir 73.1-8-79.3, D. Diack 72.2-9-79.4, L. Syinons 72.1-6-78.1, D. Fraser 72-5-77, G. Hutton 71.1-8-79.1, J. Mitchell 66.1-5-71.1, H. Thompson 62.1-13-75.1. Back shoot: E. Burgess 74.2, PRESENTATION At the bi-monthly meeting of the Wyndham Buffalo Lodge, Bro J. Crosbie, who is about to take up military duties, was presented with a pocket wallet. The presentation was made by Bro J. Irvine. Bros J. Hunter and J. Tall also spoke and Bro Crosbie replied. EUCHRE At the final of a series of fortnightly euchre parties run in aid of the Fighter Plane Fund 11 tables were in play. The prizes were won by Mrs V. Milne and Mr J. Irvine, while Mr H. Heath won the hidden number. The consolation prizes were won by Mr J. Taylor and Mrs Cameron. As a result of this effort the fund will benefit by £2/11/-. PATRIOTIC EFFORT A very successful effort in aid of the Patriotic Fund was staged by the children attending the Glenham and South Wyndham schools, as a result of which the sum of £37 was raised. The function, took the form of a bring-and-buy fair and was staged in the Glenham hall. The various stalls, which included sweets, fruit salad, soft drinks, and mystery parcels, and the games and competitions were well patronized. A short concert was staged during the evening, at the end of which a community sing was held. Betty Wright was the accompanist for the soloists and the community sing. An iced cake with the outline of an aeroplane on ’t, was given by Mrs E. Rabbidge,' and won by Master E. Rabbidge, jun., who put it up for sale. GOLF Conditions were ideal for the first round of the Wyndham Golf Club’s championships. Results were:— A Grade.—P. B. Barnett beat H. Heath 5 and 4; E. A. Pankhurst beat V. Mili.e 1 up; D. Crawford beat C. Rout 1 up at the 19th; C. G. Davey won by default from J. Stirling. The draw for the second round is:—Barnett v. Davey; Pankhurst v. Crawford. Plate.—Henderson beat A. P. Gibson 2 and 1; F. C. Milne won by default from F. .Holdgate. The draw for the second round, is:—L. Harper v. F. C. Milne; W. Irvine V. Henderson. B Grade:—M. Tangney beat A. Muir 6 and 5. Members of the staff of the Wyndham branch of Dalgety and Co., Ltd. met to honour Mr D. McPhedran, who leaves soon for Burnham.
Mr McPhedran was presented with a cheque from the firm by the manager. Mr H. Hunter, Messrs J. Scott, C. Rout, and J. Black also spoke and Mr McPhedran replied.
