SKI-ING CONTEST AT WEEK-END

BIG TOURNAMENT AT QUEENSTOWN INTER-CLUB COMPETITION TO BE HELD One of the biggest ski-ing tournaments that has yet been held in the South Island will take place at Queenstown'on Sunday. Teams will be competing from Titnaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, and Invercargill and it is expected that there will be a big influx of visitors. The Wigley Cup for the inter-club teams’ competitions will be at stake ana a keen and interesting contest should result. The Southland Ski-ing Club won this trophy last year and the club s team is expected to give a good account of itself on Sunday, although competition will be keen. About 25 skieis and followers of the sport will travel from Invercargill and parties of about 20 are expected from Dunedin and Timaru. The contest will actually be held on Skipper’s Saddle, where conditions are good for ski-ing. The teams competing for the Wigley Cup will comprise three women and three men, the best' two performances by the women and the best two by the men to count for the cup. The open championship events of the Southland Ski-ing Club will also be held on Sunday.
