COMMUNITY SING There was a good attendance at the fortnightly community sing in aid of the Patriotic Fund. The song leaders were Messrs G. W. Gardner and J. B. Cutt, the accompanist being Mr H. Bamfield. Miss N. O’Toole (Nightcaps) played for Miss Rosanna McCoy. Items were given by Masters A. and J. Beck, Miss McCoy, Mr T. Luke, Misses M. Aitken and T. Dunne, Mr J.
Potts; Mr C. H. Withers, Mr A. W. Sherman.
Competitions were won as follows: — Fifty cigarettes, Miss Eunice Nisbet; cake, Master Ivan Pope.
EUCHRE EVENING The fortnightly series of euchre evenings run by the Wairio branch of the Patriotic Committee was held in the public hall. There was a fair attendance. The prize-winners were as fol--lows:—Women, Mrs B. Paddon 1; consolation, Mrs G. Taylor. Men, Mr J. Ayton 1; consolation, Mr A. W. Keen 1. Competitions were won by Mr A. McKetterick and Mrs M. Forde.
