EXECUTIVE VACANCY FILLED
ACCLIMATIZATION SOCIETY Mr J. Louden was elected to the executive of the Southland Acclimatization Society last night to fill a vacancy caused by his own resignation. The other nominee was Mr J. B. Pasco. Mr Louden had resigned when it was found that the previous election was invalid because the names of the nominees had not been notified to members of the council seven days before the meeting. A letter was recaived from the Southland branch of the New Zealand Duckshooters’ Association protesting against the manner in which members were elected to vacancies on the executive during the year. The branch considered that the member next in the voting should automatically be appointed to the executive and that in the method adopted at the last election to fill a vacancy the executive had not kept faith with the licence-holders who registered their votes at the annual election. The letter was received.
