EASTERN SOUTHLAND! . ' TEAMS ■ CHAMPIONSHIP SHOOT AT MATAURA The recently-formed Eastern Southland Miniature Rifle Sub-Association conducted its first teams’ championship shoot at Mataura. The venture proved a success and the executive announced that it would be the forerunner of further contests. In all 20 teams from all parts of the. association’s district, as well as from Invercargill, Mossbum and Tapanui, took part and shooting was quite good.

The evening’s programme provided for an open competition for all teams and the Eastern championship, open to affiliated clubs. Two possibles were recorded by J. Healey (Mossbum) and J. McDonald (Pukerau). The Mossburn team particularly put up a very creditable perforipance to tie with the Gore. A team with 390 points in the open shoot. Gore A, being eligible for the Eastern premiership, was awarded the honour, with Pukerau B (385) run-ner-up. Invercargill R.S.A. took second place in the open competition and the Invercargill Ladies’ Club was third.
