GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS The women’s A grade golf championship was won by Miss W. Hannan, with Mrs P. Scott runner-up. The leading scores over 36 holes were: Miss W. Hannan, 47-47-49-51—194; Mrs P. Scott, 49-49-52-46—196; Mrs D. McLeod, 49-51-53-52-205; Mrs A. D. McClymont, 57-59-61-52—229.
The women’s B grade championship was won by Mrs W. J. Henderson, with Mrs R. Walker runner-up.
Miss A. Beaton 'was successful in winning the weekly women’s silver badge competition. Following is the draw for a medal round to be played today:—Mrs R. Walker and Mrs W. Henderson, Mrs D. McLeod and Mrs P. Scott, Mrs A. D. McClymont and Mrs W. Low, Miss A. Beaton and Miss P. Whitehead, Mrs H. Whitehead and Mrs J. Mangan, Miss B. Wrather and Miss W. Hannan, Miss F. Hamilton and Miss N. Charlton, Mrs C. F. Bruce and Mrs J. O. Harper, Mrs T. Webb and Miss V. Henderson, Mrs S. King and Mrs W. Fowle, Miss Johnstone and Mrs B. Brookes, Mrs H. Robins and Mrs W. R. Langmuir, Miss M. McLees and Mrs G. A. Spears. On Saturday a mixed foursome will be played. RED CROSS SOCIETY
The Tuatapere branch of the Red Cross Society held a very successful shop day, about £l5 being raised towards the funds.
Competitions run were won by the following:—Biscuits, J. Denniston; spoons, Mrs J. Mangan; cushion, Mrs J. Mclntyre. It is the intention of the local branch to hold these shop -days at regular intervals, the next to be on the day of the October stock sale.
