PRICE OF PIGS

To The Editor

Sir, —In the report of a sale of pigs at the Rialto I notice the price of porker pigs given as £2/1/-. I was present at this sale and saw weaner pigs sold at that price. In fairness to those who buy or sell privately, I hope in future the prices will be more accurate according to the size of the pigs.—Yours, etc., FARMER.

September’ 6, 1940. [This letter was referred to the auctioneers who report the sale. The price quoted in this instance should have referred to a light porker, current values for which are 40/- to 45/-. Medium grades are from 50/- to 55/-, and heavy grades from 60/- to 65/-.]
