PEASANTS MUTINY
OUTBREAKS NEAR VLADIVOSTOCK,
PANIC AMONG AUTHORITIES.
(United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.)
Shanghai, June 3
Confirmation has been received by the Harbin Consular authorities regarding peasant mutinies in the vicinity of Vladivostock, which are reported as increasingly serious. Russky Island, in Vladivostock harbour, has been occupied by the mutineers, while the crews of the Soviet gunboats Varovsky, Krassay and Vimpel revolted and liberated several thousand shore prisoners. Telephone and telegraph communication between Harbin and Vladivostock is interrupted. Passengers arriving at Harbin declare that peasant uprisings in the villages and the maritime provinces are spreading, and the authorities are panicky owing to their inability to suppress them.
