FATALLY SHOT
TRAGEDY AT SHOW. (Per United Press Association.! . Hamilton, June 3. Joseph Bertram Dufty, aged 43, of Claudelands, who was fatally shot at the Waikato Winter Show last evening, met his death through a .22 calibre rifle bullet which pierced his heart. A Hindu, Raschhad Sukha, aged 19 years, who was in waiting his turn to shoot at a moving target, was tinkering with a rifle when it accidentally discharged and Dufty, who was bending down inside the gallery about four feet away from the rifle, was killed almost instantaneously. A large crowd was present at the time and the accident caused a sensation.- The Hindu was unable to explain how the rifle discharged. Dufty was a well-known carrier in the Waikato, and augmented his income by running sideshows at regattas and shows. He was a well-known professional wrestler, League and Rugby footballer and cricketer. He was married with no children.
