CROSSING TRAGEDY

MOTOR CYCLIST RUNS INTO TRAIN. FRIGHTFUL INJURIES. (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, June 2. A shocking tragedy occurred at Kelvin Grove crossing this morning, when a motor cyclist, whose name is not yet known, ran into the north-bound Daylight Limited express. He was killed instantly, and his body was frightfully mutilated. Apparently the deceased sighted the train when 50 feet from the line, and the brakes failed to arrest his momentum. The cycle struck the engine and the rider was whirled round the wheels. YOUNG MAN IDENTIFIED. Palmerston North, June 2. The young man killed at Kelvingrove railway crossing to-day has been identified as Louis Bernard Henry, who has been employed by A. Lassen on an Ashhurst farm since January.
