DRASTIC REMEDIES TWO NEW ORDINANCES CONGRESSMEN GIVEN A CHANCE (United Press Assn.—Bjr Telegraph—CopyrisM.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Delhi, May 31. The Government of India has inaugurated more drastic remedies to meet the political situation in the country by the promulgation by Lord Irwin of two new ordinances, to protect shopkeepers from picketing, to stop the movement for the non-pay-ment of taxes, and to deal with attempts to tamper with the loyalty of the soldiers, police and Government servants. There measures have been long contemplated, but have been delayed in order to give the congressmen an opportunity to cease their activities. The ordinances will apply immediately to the Bombay presidency, but may extend to any part of the country as needed. It is likely that if these measures are not successful, the Government will declare congress an unlawful body. , RANGOON DEATH ROLL. Delhi, May 30. The total deaths in Rangoon now total 174. There are signs of an improvement and the shops and bazaars are opening.
