A message from Chicago states that the city’s new’est, if not greatest, scandal came to light to-day with the indictment of ten prominent political figures. Frauds involving 1,000,000 dollars are charged against them, and the items thereunder are a 1000-dollar street lamp for a certain boulevard, excessive expenditure on a 1,000,000-dollar bridle path for which 400,000 dollars was spent for cinders' (the path actually remains unused), unlawful and unauthorized expenditure of hundreds of thousands of dollars in sums of 500 dollars to escape the law providing for competitive bidding where larger than 500dollar outlays are involved, and expensive pay roll padding.
