PILLION RIDER INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) 1 Wellington, May 28. • A young woman, Miss Angus, while riding pillion on a motor cycle at one o’clock this morning fell off in Oriental Parade and ■was taken to the hospital in a grave condition. ■ LORRY DRIVER INJURED. Wellington, May 28. A motor lorry and a train collided at the Wallaceville crossing this morning, the driver of the lorry, A. Gorrie, receiving head injuires and abrasions as well as suffering shock. He was taken to hospital by the ambulance. FOUND DEAD IN MOTOR CAR. Wellington, May 28. Shortly after 2 o’clock this afternoon, a man was discovered dead, sitting in a motor car in Ballance street, opposite the Magistrate’s Court. It is not known how long he had been sitting there and no one had noticed that he was dead until a passer-by, thinking he was asleep, endeavoured to* wake him up. The body has been identified as that of C. W. McLoughlan, health specialist, residing at Newtown. CHILD KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR. Waipukurau, May 28. Patty Nutt, aged 10, the younger daughter of Thomas Nutt, of Wanstead, was crossing the road for the purpose of collecting the mail from the letter-box when she was struck by a car driven by E. J. White, of Porangahau. The victim was 1 removed to the Waipukurau Hospital suffering from shock, bruises and deep abrasions and possibly internal injury. ENGINE-DRIVER’S DEATH. Wairoa, May 28. Evan Jones, aged 38, married, a Public Works locomotive driver, was crushed during shunting operations in the Mohaka tunnel on the East Coast railway works this morning. He died on the way to the Wairoa Hospital. An inquest will be held.
