ADVICE TO THE KING
MINISTERS OF COMMONWEALTH. ACCEPTANCE NOT OBLIGATORY. (United Press Assn.— By Telegraph—Copyright.) Melbourne, May 26. Speaking at the Royal Empire Society’s dinner the Chief Justice, Sir William Irvine, said no right or power was included in the Commonwealth Constitution for Ministers to tender advice to the King on which his Majesty was bound to act in the appointment of a Governor-General or in any other matter. Any obligation of the Sovereign to act on Ministerial advice was clearly excluded from the terms of the Constitution itself.
