LAMB GRADING

PROTEST FROM COMPANIES. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, May 24. Following the recent discussion on the export of third grade lamb from New Zealand, the three Canterbury Freezing Companies have combined to send the following telegram to the Director of Agriculture, Wellington, and the General Manager of the Meat Board, Wellington: “We wish to protest against the grading of third quality lambs for export for the reason that it will undoubtedly lower the reputation of Canter- . bury lamb on the London market. We heartily endorse the opinion expressed at the Farmers’ Union Conference, that it was a deplorable thing to allow the standing of our lambs to be brought down to the lavw' qf Australian or Argentina.”
