THE HON. G. W. FORBES

SUMMONDED BY GOVERNOR-GENERAL PREMIER’S RESIGNATION RECEIVED. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, May 23. It was announced to-day that the Premier’s resignation had ,been received by the Governor-General as. well as the resignations of his colleagues in the Ministry. The Governor-General’ has forwarded a communication to the Hon. G. W. Forbes requesting him to proceed to Auckland and accordingly Mr Forbes will leave by the train this evening accompanied by Mr F. D. Thomson, permanent head of. the Prime Minister’s Department and his private secretary, Mr A. W. Mulligan.

SIR JOSEPH AV ARD FUTURE MOVEMENTS UNDECIDED. Rotorua, May 23. The resignation of Sir Joseph Ward, together with those of his colleagues, was sent to the Governor-General yesterday. Sir Joseph will continue to undergo treatment at Rotorua for some time and no course as to his future movements has been decided upon. HANDSOME HONOUR EXPECTED.

(United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) London, May 22. There are several Press suggestions that the Birthday Honours are-likely to contain a handsome honour to Sir Joseph Ward. Though it is improbable that it will be a peerage, even that would not be inappropriate, as with the exception of Sir Charles Clifford, Sir Joseph Ward is the only New Zealander who has received a hereditary title.
