TAX ON WAGES

INCREASED REVENUE FOR NIS.W. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, May 22. The wages, hours and conditions on any work financed by £3,000,000 to be raised by the wage tax of 3d. in the £ are to be determined by the Government. This was announced by the Treasurer, Mr Stevens, in the Legislative Assembly when he introduced the third of the Government’s series of Econqmic Bills. He said that all salaries and wages would be taxed from July 1.
