OBITUARY
SIR W. GORDON-CUMMING. CELEBRATED LAW SUIT RECALLED. (United «Pres 3 Assn. —By Telegraph—Copyright.) London, May 21. The death has occurred of Sir William Gordon-Cumming at the age of 81. He was'accused of cheating at cards at Tranby Croft in 1890 when King Edward was a member of the house party, and the upshot was the celebrated baccarat libel case in which King Edward, who was Prince of Wales at the time, gave evidence. Sir William Gordon-Cumming was married in 1891 to Florence Josephine, daughter of Commodore Garner, of the New York Yacht Club. He was educated at Eton and entered the Army, serving in South Africa and Egypt. He owned 38,500 acres.
