WYNDHAM NOTES

The half-yearly meeting and installation of officers of Court Pride of Wyndham Juvenile Foresters was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Wyndham, on Monday evening, P.C.R. Bro. T. Bain, presiding over a fair attendance of members. The following officers were installed for the ensuing period: 1.P.C.R., Bro. T. Bain Jnr.; C.R., Bro. Arch. Blair; S.C.R., Bro Wm Wilson; S.W., Bro. W. Crighton; J.W. Bro. R. Crighton; 5.8., Bro S. Kennedy; J. 8., Bro H. Munro; M.S. Bro. J. McKenzie; P.C.R.’c Bros. L. Harley and N. Dobbie conducted the installation, and Bro. Bain was also present. On Sunday every pew in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Wyndham, was filled when the retiring Vicar, the Rev. L. J. B. Snell, conducted his final service before his early departure to the Homeland, en route for a parish in Jersey. Mr Snell's valedictory will be long remembered for its ring of devotion and sincerity in support of the greatest of all causes, that of Christianity. Before concluding the service in the evening, Mr Snell said that he had asked the vestry’s acceptance of a communion service, one similar to those held on the battlefields in France during the Great War. This gift was supplemental to a pair of beautiful silver candlesticks Mr Snell had earlier donated to use on the altar of St. Mary’s. The following team will represent Wyndham second grade fifteen in their competition match against Seaward Downs to-day: G. Lindsay, S. Jones, V. Milne, E. McLennan, J. Johnstone, G. McLennan, B. Popham, J. McCallum, W. Johnstone, J. McKenzie, S. Bain, A. Jamison, T. Clarke, A. Johnstone, A. Gibson. The third grade fifteen to play Edendale will be as follows: Francis, Harley, Williamson, McGrouther, Crighton, Wilson, Hansen, Baker, Kiddey, Heath, Poole, Leith, McKenzie, Crosbie, Scott, Heaps and Milne. The following hockey team will represent Wyndham in their match against Mimihau at Wyndham to-day: Misses M. Gorman, M. Stevens, B. Hunter, G. Dermody, J. Milne, J. Clarke, I. Leitch, M. Macgqire, L. Mcguire, A. Hcydon, P. Munro. The Mimihau team will be as follows: Misses A. Frame, M. Hunter, E. Udy, A. Smith, A. McLaren, G. McDonald, R. Caldwell, I. McDonald, A. Allan, M. McDonald, J. Parr and J. Allan. Mrs Dillion, Wyndham, is at present visiting Waikawa. Mr R. S. Johnstone, Alexandra, is at present on a visit to his parents, Mr and Mrs W. H. Johnstone. Mr and Mrs A. Milne, Otara, are at present visiting Mr J. Smith, “Tamlet.” Miss Turner, Invercargill, is at present on a visit to Mr and Mrs R. S. Wylie, Edendale. Mr and Mrs R. Hamilton, Waikawa, accompanied by Mrs Mclntosh, who have been holidaying in the north, have returned home.
