EASTERN SOUTHLAND. TO-DAY’S GAMES. Pioneer’s defeat of Mataura last Wednesday has created a very interesting position in the competition for the Eastern Southland premiership. At the end of the first round Mataura, Albion and Pioneer were level, each having won two matches and lost one. The second round commences today, when Pioneer and Albion will meet for the second time. Albion won the last game by the narrow margin of two points, and this time Pioneer, fresh from their victory over Mataura, will be keen to turn the tables. A second grade game and two third grade matches (one of which will commence at 2 p.m.) complete a promising programme for the Gore Showgrounds to-day. TEAMS FOR TO-DAY. First Grade.
