SYDNEY ENGINEERS FAVOUR STRIKE. Sydney, January 19. A meeting of the Amalgamated Engineering Union passed a resolution in favour of a strike with the object of forcing employers to grant full wages for a 44-hour week but for the present left the matter in the hands of the District Committee.—A. and N.Z. BRISBANE BUILDING TRADE. SERIOUS TROUBLE THREATENED. Brisbane, January 19. A meeting of the committee of the building trade group of unions decided that all Government building work be declared “black” and that employees hand in notices immediately. It was also resolved to picket all Government works. A meeting of the Cabinet decided to insist on observance of the 44-hour week. It is anticipated other buildnig work will shortly be declared “black” and that the trouble will extend to the transport workers.—A. and N.Z. WATERSIDERS’ CLAIMS. Melbourne, January 19. The Commonwealth Arbitration Court reserved judgment on the claims of the Waterside Workers’ Federation. Judgment will be delivered at Adelaide next week.— A. and N.Z.
