ANNUAL PICNIC
CORPORATION EMPLOYEES’ OUTING. A HAPPY PAY AT COLAC. Although the conditions were somewhat tempestuous at Colac yesterday, this did not detract in the slightest degree from the enjoyment of the 600 odd holiday-makers who journeyed to this popular picnic ground in order to take part in the Invercargill Corporation employees' annual gathering. Bright sunshine prevailed throughout the day, and full advantage was taken of the excellent bathing facilities available. Ample accommodation was provided by the Railway Department, and the journey to and from town were done in excellent) time. No picnic worthy of the name is complete without a sports programme, and yesterday’ gathering was not lacking in this respect. Races there were for one and all, and of every conceivable nature. Taken all round, it was a highly successful day’s outing, and when the train steamed into Invercargill it brought home a tired but well-pleased band of holiday-makers.
