Mr Rewi Kingsland returned to Invercargill by the through express last evening. Mr W. W. Millar was a passenger to Invercargill by the second express yesterday. Mr G. Cruickshank, S.M., who has been spending a holiday in the North Island, returned to Invercargill by the mid-day train yesterday. Dr. E. H. Taylor, who has been appointed house surgeon at the Southland Hospital, was a passenger to Invercargill by the second express yesterday. Miss K. Miller, accompanied by her mother, left Dunedin for Auckland yesterday to compete in the ladies’ events at the New Zealand amateur swimming championships. Mr. T. Bryant, a member of the Dairy Produce Control Board; Mr H. J. Middleton, president of the South Island Dairy Association; and Mr G. A. Lamb, secretary of the association, left Dunedin for Wellington yesterday to attend a meeting in connection with export business. Mr Percy S. Crisp relinquished his position as editor of the Christchurch Sun on Saturday, and was farewelled by the staff. The feelings of Mr. Crisp’s colleagues and eonirades were admirably expressed by Mr M. E. Lyons, as chief reporter, who referred to their editor’s brilliant journalistic career during seven years’ service for the Sun, and expressed the staff’s pride in his achievement, which had been crowned by appointment to the editorial control of the new Auckland Sun. On behalf of the staff, Mr Crisp was presented with a set bf desk requisites and a briar pipe.—Christchurch correspondent of the Evening Star.
