TENNIS RESULTS. (From Our Correspondent.) At the tennis courts on Saturday Lumsden met Wendonside in the second round for the Campbell Cup and won by 11 sets to 5 and 84 games to 67. The weather was not good for tennis, a strong wind prevailing which made playing conditions unpleasant. However, some good games were witnessed by a large number of spectators. A good display was given in the match between Dr. Brown and F. Hurley, the former winning after a close contest by 6—5. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea by the ladies of the local club. The following are the scores, Wendonside names being given first: — Combined doubles: Hurley and Miss McDonald 3 v Brown and Miss Belsham 6; Collins and Miss Hamer 3 v J. Ogilvy and Miss Campbell 6; McDonald and Mrs H. Collins 2 v D. Ogilvy and Miss Allen 6; Sanson and Mrs N. Collins 6 v Aitcheson and Mias Kirkpatrick 4. Men’s Doubles: Hurley and Collins 3 v Brown and J. Ogilvy 6; McDonald and Sanson 6 v Aitcheson and D. Ogilvy 4. Ladies’ Doubles: Misses McDonald and Hamer 6 v Misses Belsham and Campbell 3; Mrs H. Collins and Mrs W. Collins 2 v Misses Allen and Kirkpatrick 6. Men’s Singles: Hurley 5 v Brown 6; H. Collins 2 v J. Ogilvy 6; McDonald 5 v D. Ogilvy 6; Sanson 5 v Aitcheson 6. Ladies’ Singles: Miss McDonald 6 v Miss Belsham 5; Miss Hamer 4 v Miss Campbell 6; Mrs H. Collins 3 v Miss Allen 6; Mrs W. Collins 6 v Miss Kirkpatrick 2. LUMSDEN CALEDONIAN SOCIETY. A meeting of the Caledonian Society was held on Saturday to make final arrangements for the sports meeting. There was a good attendance, the president, Mr T. Small, presiding. The secretary reported that the following entries had been received: 100yds open, 18 entries; Lumsden Sheffield, 135yds, 17 entries; 220yds, 15 entries; 440yds, 10 entries ; and the 880yds, 7 entries. The question of allowing cars on the ground was discussed and it was finally decided that cars be admitted and a charge be made for admission. The tender of Mrs E. Reidy for the right to sell refreshments was accepted. The following stewards were appointed: Grounds, Mr O. Taylor; dancing, Mr H. Dagg; Press, Mr J. Clouston; cars, Messrs Reidy and Clouston. The handicapping of the local events will be done by Messrs Heath, Sherriff and McDonald. SENSIBLE FOLK. SAFEGUARD THEIR HEALTH WITH DR MORSE’S INDIAN ROOT PILLS.
