The Conciliation Committee appointed to | consider matters in dispute between the i railway officers and the department con- 1 citified its sitting yesterday ;unl reconi- | j mends the following adjustment ; That the ! I bonus now being paid members of tlic First I Division be cancelled as on and after April I 1, 1020, and a bonus at the rate of .220 ; per annum be granted each member of ! grade 8 (cadets i; that a bonus at the j rale of 250 per annum he paid for grades i 2 to 7 inclusive of Cl anti to the captains, mates and engineers of the Lake Wakatipu service as on and after .April 1, 1020; that I the bonus recommended for grades 2 to | 7 be taken into consideration in respect to | salaries of members of grade 1 ; lodging ' allowances for sub-grades 1. 2 and 3 to be I £4O, £3O and £2l) respectively; married] members’ minimum pay to be 2187 10s per : annum; casual clerks to be eligible for I advances to the minimum rate of pay provided for in grade 7. Hours of fluty to be worked by officers at centres, to be specified latc-r, tire fixed I at 3S per week; hours at other places to be I 48 per week with time off for work in excess of (hat period; seven hours to con- ' statute an "all night” shift. Special provision is recommended governing Sunday work and the scale of Sunday pay ranges from 4s an hour for officers in receipt of over £270 per annum to 2s I 3d for those getting not more than £lO5 ; I the bonus to bo considered in assessing rates of pay. The annual leave is to be brought into ■ uniformity with the Public Service provisions, the limitation to 42 days’ accumula- ( tion to be cancelled; the leave rota to be , cancelled for officers. Other recommendations are made for increased travelling advances anti for reduction of the time necessary for a member to serve in any grade to qualify for the j maximum superannuation retiring allow- 1 ante in respect to such grade.
