POLICE COURT
At the Police Court yesterday morning Messrs ,1. Ward and T. D. Lennie, J.’sP., occupied the bench. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. Two brothers named Charles Richard Brown and Arthur William Brown w'ere charged with having used obscene language in Bowmont street, South Invercargill, on Saturday night. The accused admitted having used obscene language but stated that they had not used the words set out in the information. Constable Thompson stated that he hart met the men and warned them to go quietly to their homes. He then left but after proceeding a little way he heard talking, and on returning heard the men use the language set out in the information. Con .table Johnston corroborated the evidence given by Constable Thompson. Mr Ward reprimanded the accused, and stated .hat if it had not been far their past gort characters he would have sent them to gaol. The accuser! were each fined £5. ALLEGED RAPE. Norman Mclntosh and William Gunn Mclntosh were charged with committing rape at Tokunui on June IS. On the application of Senior-Sergeant Eecles the accused were remanded until June 29.
